Travelling Nepal reports on travel, tourism, trekking, aviation and conservation in Nepal. This page sets out how we source, check and correct what we publish. It applies to every news article on this site.
We do not publish original claims of our own. Every factual statement in a news article is drawn from a named source: an official statement or notice (CAAN, the Department of Immigration, the Nepal Tourism Board, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, district administrations, Nepal Police), or reporting by an established Nepali or international news organisation.
Sources are listed at the end of each article. Where we quote a person, the quote is attributed to the outlet that published it.
Our news desk uses assisted research and drafting tools to monitor sources and prepare drafts. Every article is checked against the sources named in it before publication, and the same verification standard applies whether a piece was drafted by hand or with assistance. When a story is time-critical and still developing, the article says what is confirmed and what is not.
If we get something wrong, we correct it. Corrections are made in the article itself, with a note describing what changed, rather than deleted quietly. If you spot an error, or a figure that no longer matches its source, tell us with the article link and the detail in question, and we will check it against the original reporting.
Nepal’s travel news moves quickly and is often reported at second hand. Our purpose is narrower than a general news site: to tell travellers and the trade what has actually changed — a route, a permit, a fee, a flight, a regulation — and to show the working. If an article here cannot show its sources, it should not be trusted, and you should tell us.
